All good MLM leads share a few characteristics that you will be able to see as soon as talk to them. We have all had bad experiences with really bad leads for our network marketing businesses, but I have found five main characteristics that I believe when found in a person are good indicators that they will be a GREAT MLM lead.
1. Your MLM Lead must have a good personality.
I know this one should be obvious, but it is worth mentioning. Your MLM Lead needs to be a people person, now I am not saying that they have to be crazy out-going but you will need to use your best judgment. Think about it would you recruit a major league baseball player that hated playing baseball? I course not, so why would you recruit someone into your network marketing team that does not like building relationships with people, after all a network marketing business is about building and growing relationships.
2. Your lead must possess a GREAT Attitude.
We have all come across a MLM Lead that just seems uninterested about the business opportunity or worse yet about the world around them. This is NOT someone that you want working in your opportunity. When a network marketing lead has a bad attitude when you are talking to them, how do you think prospects will react if they have the same attitude with them? Then your lead is going to get frustrated and leave with a bad experience and no one wants that.
You do want someone that is fun to be around and excited about whatever they are talking about or doing. This attitude will be evident to new prospects and they will naturally move toward them. Who really does not like a up-beat happy person?
3. Your MLM Lead must be Goal-Oriented
Everyone has gotten an open-ended interview question like "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" Have you ever stopped to and wondered why everyone asks that question? It is because that question with its follow-up questions will tell the interviewer if you are a goal-oriented person. Normally the next question that is asked is something along the lines of "How do you plan to get there?" A goal-oriented person will respond with a step by step plan of attack on how they will accomplish their goal. A non-goal-oriented person will simply say something along the lines of "I don't know." If you ask your network marketing lead how they are going to get to their goal and they say they don't know run away fast, this person is going to have a very hard time in network marketing.
4. Your network marketing lead needs to be motivated.
Too many new network marketers get involved in an opportunity because they are looking for a "get rich quick scheme." I hate to break it to them but there is no such thing. Every network marketing business requires a lot of work in order for it to be successful.
If you are motivated and will to put in the work network marketing can bring you financial success. But it is not going to be over night and no one is going to give it to you on a silver platter. If you can find leads that understand this and get them into your MLM business you will be on your way to financial independence.
5. Your Prospect must be a leader!
Leadership is about taking responsibility for yourself, your circumstances and your future and taking action if they are not where you want them to be. Everyone can be a leader; they just have to learn the skills that others are unwilling to learn. I am not telling you that a lead must be in a leadership position at their current job, just that they must be willing to step out of their comfort zone and grow as a person.
You are going to have to follow your heart when it comes to going your MLM leads and deciding which ones are worth your time and effort to bring into your MLM business. Don't make rash judgments just because of a person's current circumstances get to know your lead and if they have all five of the qualities listed above I think you will find that they are worth your time and effort.
